At the Karl Bulla photoshowroom the anniversary exhibition of Paul Markin was held, Pavel is a photojournalist with 40 years experience. All work has been exhibited for the first time.

Markin started shooting for newspapers in 1968, and during that time has worked in dozens of publications , in the 80s he has served as dean of  photographers faculty in the St. Petersburg Union of Journalists, however, he continues printing regularly  as a writer.

The exhibition “Familiar Strangers” - is not only a thirtieth exhibition and anniversary of Markin. He turns 65, and the same number of works is on display. The name is also an ulterior motive: for more than 40 years of his career at a press photographer there is more than one hundred shots, missed the headlines, but are no less and, at times, even much more valuable.

The report of this kind is, at least make possible to trace the shift of several eras through the eyes of one artist.

In the “RACHMANINOV GARDEN” photogallery on the 13th of October took place the opening session of personal exhibition of the Russian Photo Artist Union member Valery Degtyarev, entitled “The Intentional city.” The exhibition of 25 black and white monochrome images is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of FYODOR DOSTOYEVSKY.

Valery Degtyarev has presented ST.-PETERSBURG through the eyes of FYODOR MIKHAILOVICH, an association with his works arise from the first look at the photos. Images of close courtyards, dark stairs and blank walls create a depressed mood, feelings of loneliness and anxiety, the city is presented as a city-monster, which inhibits personality. Each image has its own history and mysterious storyline.

Valery Degtyarev demonstrates balanced and laconic style, the variety of topics and methods of producing images. He was able to transfer the evolution of nature, dynamics through the snapshot, showed the essence of things. It is interesting to see then how the author feels light, perspective and space of air.

The exhibition will run from October 14 to November 14 in the photogallery “Rachmaninov Garden” at Kazan Street., 5, in the yard (2nd arch). Opening hours – from 12 to 20 hours.

At the «Rachmaninov Garden» gallery by popular demand took place the first individual photo exhibition   of Ilia Rashap works «Another World». To your attention during the hall October there will be presented works in the spirit of Japanese black and white graphics and art of American cinema beginning of the twentieth century, which are the essence of the symbolism and laconicism.

Ilya Rashap is an accomplished photographer and lecturer, he represents postmodernism in its best manifestations, who is creating a unique trend of modern digital photography, with its own language and means of expression.

Series “The Poetry of silver” was born from the author’s reading of poetry of Marina Tsvetaeva 
.

Especially for the works in this series Irina Lozovskaja revived the ancient technique 
 eglomize, which appeared in the XIII century by Frenchman Jean-Baptiste 
 Glomi. The modern approach uses a reflective surface and 
 game reflections, thereby creating a sense of mystery and 
 depth photography.
